I talked about this in a post on twt but nightmares don't physically need sleep. They do feel the need to rest though, mimicking sleeping habits in the process, kind of like resting your own eyes.
Mr. Nightmare is one of those who really REALLY wants to rest as soon as he's given the chance, perhaps out of habit from his past.
